I’ve been listening to Abraham Hicks a lot lately. I love the teachings of Abraham. Its a funny concept really… A woman who channels the energy of a collective of guides that manifest themselves as “Abraham”. Not a being… more of an idea, and energy or knowing. One that spreads the concept of manifestation. That we are the creators, that “YOU ARE A CREATOR OF THOUGHTWAYS ON YOUR UNIQUE PATH OF JOY.”
If you are listening to this work for the first time, it might take a little bit to get your head around it. Try to stick with it.
The basic concept is that with our thoughts, we create our reality – kind of like the ole saying “you are what you eat”… but with thoughts. You are what you think!
Ask, believe and receive. Its not a new concept. You only have to look to the teachings of the bible – Matthew 21:22 “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” So why is this so hard for us humans to put into practice?
From not long after birth, we have be conditioned to focus on lacking instead of abundance. On loss instead of gain. On what is going wrong in our worlds instead of what is going great. We’ve developed a conditioning of expecting things to NOT work out. So many of us have developed a fear of NOT having, trusting or that they are powerless and victims to what happens in the world and their daily lives. It seems absurd to think that we could have the life of our dreams. That we might actually have some creative control over what we want and don’t want in our lives. Lets face it, its so much easier just swaying in the wind and making everyone and everything that happens to us accountable for how shitty we think our lives are. I mean, if we accept the teachings of Abraham, it means that we have to accept that we are where we are right this moment because WE put ourselves here… ouch! (if you are still working on your journey and are not real happy with whats in front of you right now, this might be a slap in the face).
The good news is, if you are brave enough to really identify what you want… (even if you don’t really know… but you know what you DON’T want, that’s a start! ) and you can chuck it out there with firm belief that you can have it, you will shift your focus off what you don’t want in your life and move it much closer to what you DO want. The real magic then is that you will start making clear and conscious decisions that will move you closer to what you do want.
I don’t know if ‘Abraham” is a collection of spiritual smokes and mirrors, but what I do know from my own experience is that having clarity in what you want and where you are heading will always change your focus and if the desire is strong enough, it will put you in the most powerful position to make good choices that move you closer toward your life goals.
Check out Abraham’s work, read the book “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne or Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” or even take it back further to the Bible and see if all these teachers are talking shit or not. The real “Secret” is believing its possible and taking action when appropriate (in my opinion).
“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I shall have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I may not have it at the beginning.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi
You will never know unless you give it a go. Shift your focus to what you want rather than what you don’t have. Share your manifestation experiences in the comments below and remember, we’re all in this together.
